Safety Procedures:

  1. General Safety:

    • Supervision: At least one adult staff member will be present at all times. All staff are trained to monitor participants closely and ensure a safe environment.
    • Emergency Contact Information: Parents/guardians must provide up-to-date emergency contact information at registration.
    • Sign In/Out Procedure: Participants must be signed in and out by an authorized parent or guardian each day. Photo ID may be required for pick-up.
  2. Health and First Aid:

    • CPR and First Aid: At least one staff member on-site is certified in pediatric CPR and first aid. A fully stocked first aid kit will be available at all times.
    • Illness Policy: Parents/guardians should not send their child to the camp if they show signs of illness (fever, cough, vomiting, etc.). If a participant becomes ill during the session, the parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up immediately.
    • Medication: Staff will not administer medication. If a participant requires medication, arrangements must be made with the parent/guardian to administer it before or after camp hours.
  3. Fire Safety:

    • Fire Drills: Fire drills will be conducted on the first day of each week-long camp session. Participants will be instructed on evacuation routes and procedures.
    • Emergency Exits: All staff and participants will be made aware of the emergency exits and the designated meeting spot outside the building.
  4. Physical Safety:

    • Workspace Setup: The workspace will be organized to prevent tripping hazards and ensure that all materials and tools are used safely.
    • Tool Safety: Participants will be instructed on the proper use of crochet hooks and other materials to prevent accidents or injuries.
  5. Behavioral Expectations:

    • Code of Conduct: Participants are expected to behave respectfully toward staff and fellow participants. Bullying, aggressive behavior, or any form of harassment will not be tolerated.
    • Conflict Resolution: Any conflicts or issues between participants will be addressed promptly by staff, with a focus on positive resolution.
  6. Emergency Procedures:

    • Emergency Evacuation: In the event of an emergency requiring evacuation (fire, gas leak, etc.), staff will lead participants to the designated meeting spot and ensure everyone is accounted for.
    • Lockdown Procedure: In the event of a security threat, staff will follow lockdown procedures to ensure the safety of all participants. Parents/guardians will be notified as soon as it is safe to do so.
